Furies of Calderon review

3 stars
Not my cup of tea. In comparison, I loved the Dresden Files series mainly because he builds his supernatural elements on a real-world or at least a familiar basis. This book starts in a bizarre world where the only familiar elements are crows. The main characters are somewhat similar to medieval humans in the number of limbs and architecture, but that's about it. So, you begin with having to build a vocabulary from the start. It's like jumping into a Dungeons and Dragons game you've never heard of before. Since it's a Jim Butcher novel, the writing vividly paints a picture. If you enjoy stories set in a strange, otherworldly setting, you might find it quite enjoyable.
